Pregnancy is a very beautiful period for a woman because it might result in something special in the near future. It would not be something new to suggest that the complications that may arise with the same also go hand in hand. Pain in the abdomen and cramps in that region is a very common scenario in majority. The pain and its intensity is the major component to decide what kind of problem could arise. Pain can extend from seconds to minutes and even though in most of the cases it is nothing serious as it is bound to happen but there have been cases where the pain is due to some other reason and if not seen at early stages, it might cause some issues.
Hence, There Are Some Explanations As To Why The Pain Occurs And The Treatments With The Same And They Are Described Below As The Following:
1. Hormonal Changes
Hormonal changes during pregnancy is a major factor that affects digestion which could result in constipation, gas, esophageal reflux and bloating. Abdominal pain and cramps are the end consequences if the above mentioned issues arise.
2. Round Ligament Pain
This usually occurs during the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. It could cause a short-lived stabbing pain in the lower abdomen or a gloomy ache that can be sensed deep till the groin. This pain occurs because of the ligaments that support the uterus begins to stretch to accommodate the growing fetus. Sudden movements by the fetus can cause the pain to aggravate and should be checked up by the doctor as soon as the pain lasts longer than the usual.
3. Fetus’s Pressure
The simplest of reasons; the growing fetus will add to the burden which will lead to pain in the pelvic region. The uterine area and the abdominal pain especially in the 3rd trimester happens mainly due to this reason.
4. Braxton Hicks Contractions
Braxton Hick Contractions can begin as early as in the middle of pregnancy. The pain in uterus here is due to the timely contractions which ultimately results in pain. The pain isn’t unbearable but in case of having regular contractions due to which regular lower abdominal pain is the result, a doctor should be seen at once as this might be a sign of premature labor.
Miscarriage has a high possibility in the first 4-5 months Vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, abdominal cramps are all signs of miscarriage and their persistent occurrence should be brought to the doctor’s attention at once.
A little here and there, walking around is always good for your body. This regulates your blood circulation and helps the food to digest more comfortably. Gas caused in the abdomen is also released in good amount therefore relieving you of the pain caused by it.
2. Stay Hydrated
Drinking water during pregnancy is often misused as many believe that it might be a reason for bloating but that isn’t the case so. Staying hydrated is good for both the mother and her child. It helps in digestion, removes all the toxic wastes that are excreted by the child and helps in reduction of cramps in the pelvic region. Always carry a water bottle when going out as dehydration could cause complications when you least expect them.
Rest is another important aspect which many women forget while they are laboring. Not that they should sit idle throughout the day but a good rest is very important. While cramps occur which could extend to minutes, simply lying down and calming your body down can be highly fruitful. Remember to always keep changing your positions as lying down in one unique pose can also lead to the same problem occurring again. In the case of Braxton Hicks contractions or in case of round ligament pain, resting can help ease the discomfort.
4. Hot Water Bottle
Placing a hot water bottle on the target area can also provide a woman with ease against the pain that begins from cramps. The same can be substituted with a towel soaked in hot water. During pregnancy, hot water showers become mandatory as that again serves the purpose as stated above.
Massages have always added a more soothing and calmer effect in our lives. During the hard times such as in pregnancy, massages help in curing stress from deep within the body and ease you out mentally. Massages on the back can have positive effect on the abdomen and this can help diminish pain.
