A lot of us suffer from premature graying of hair these days. The average age when hair starts graying is usually between 35 and 40. Coconut Oil & Curry Leaves Hair Tonic

This DIY hair tonic would restore the lost color to your hair and nourish it considerably. While coconut oil nourishes your hair, curry leaves would restore the natural pigments in your hair. Grab a handful of curry leaves and mix them nicely in about 100 ml of coconut oil. Boil the mixture nicely for about 10 minutes until the curry leaves turn black in color. Wait for the mixture to cool down and strain it to extract the oil. Store this oil in an airtight container.

Apply a few drops of this oil to your hair and massage your scalp for about 20 minutes. Leave the oil on your hair overnight and rinse it off with your shampoo next morning.

Note: You can also boil some curry leaves in water and drink the mixture twice every day to prevent premature graying. Adding some curry leaves to the dishes that you cook would also help curb premature graying although not as quickly as the previous remedies.

Coconut-Ridge Gourd Tonic

Also called as ribbed gourd, ridge gourd is a very common home remedy for premature graying. In addition to enriching the roots of the hair follicles, ridge gourd would restore their pigments, thereby retaining the natural color of your hair.

Cut a ridge gourd into small pieces and dry them nicely (in the shade). Afterwards, soak the pieces in a cup of coconut oil for about 4-5 days. Boil the concoction on low flame nicely for about 15 minutes until it turns black. Wait for the mixture to cool, strain it and store the resultant oil in an airtight bottle. Massage your scalp and hair nicely with this oil at least twice a week before taking a shower. A few weeks of this remedy and all those gray hairs would vanish for good.

Indian Gooseberry Hair Oil

Fondly called Amla in the native language, the Indian gooseberry has been a natural remedy for a variety of hair problems for a very long time. Amla contains high amounts of Vitamin C and antioxidants which would nourish your hair and prevent premature graying. In addition to adding amla to your diet, you can make your very own amla hair oil at home to curb premature graying. Here’s what you need to do.

Cut some gooseberries into two pieces each and dry them in the shade nicely. Grind the dried gooseberries to get a fine powder. Now mix about 2 tablespoons of this powder with 1 teaspoon of fenugreek powder. Mix this powder with a cup of coconut oil nicely. Heat the mixture on low heat for about 15 minutes until it turns brownish black. Let the mixture cool, strain it and store the oil in a bottle. Use a few drops of this oil to massage your scalp and hair twice every morning and night. In both instances, wash your hair with cool water afterwards. Follow this remedy diligently for a month and your premature gray hairs would disappear for good.

Some of us may not like applying excess oil on our hair. In this case, another effective remedy using amla can be used to treat premature graying of hair. Dry some gooseberries and grind them to form a powder. Mix a tablespoon of this powder in a cup of water and boil the mixture until it reduces to just half of the original quantity. Let the mixture cool nicely and strain it. Take three tablespoons of this mixture and mix it with an equal amount of lemon juice. Add this mixture to the water you use for washing your hair and take a bath.  Follow this remedy for two weeks or so to notice desirable results.

Carrot-Sesame Hair Tonic

Getting rid of those one or two odd premature gray hairs can be a pain indeed. However, with the carrot-sesame hair tonic, you would be able to get rid of these gray hairs permanently. Grate a carrot to extract its juice. Mix this juice with an equal amount of sesame oil. Add some fenugreek powder to the mixture in the ratio 1:1/2. Mix all the ingredients nicely and pour the mixture into a container. Keep the container in the sun for 3 weeks or so.

After this time period, strain the mixture and store the resultant oil in a bottle. Apply this oil to your scalp and hair every day before taking a shower (wait for 15 minutes after application before heading into the bathroom).
