Stress and anxiety during pregnancy is very common and you have to deal with it in the right way so that you can have a healthy and happy baby. It is very important that you look for ways to ensure the wellbeing of the baby. Most of you all may think that this is happening only with you and you may feel depressed about it, but that’s not true. Every pregnant lady faces this problem and it all depends on how you deal with it.
There Are Few Simple And Easy Strategies That You Can Opt For So That You Reduce The Stress To A Manageable Extent:
1. Take The Much Needed Rest
You will be stressed out and hence, the possibility of tiredness increases. It is very important that you take the required amount of rest, which your body demands. After 23 weeks, you can also talk to your unborn baby as they will be able to hear you and this is the best way to build a connection with them. If you have child or children then you can look for someone who can help you to take care of them so that your body gets the rest that it deserves.
2. Talk Your Heart Out
It is very important that you talk about the stress that you are facing. You can always share your problem with your mid-wife, partner, mother or mother-in-law. These people will listen to you and they will provide the support that you require. You can also look for companion from mother-to-be so that you both can understand and accept that all pregnant females face the same kind of stress. If you keep the stress to yourself then you will feel irritated and start to feel lonely and this is not a good feeling to experience at this point of time.
3. Eat Healthy
This is one of the most effective ways by which you can keep stress at bay. Check with your doctor on what are the things that you should eat and what are the things that you need to avoid so that you can stay fit and happy. Omega-3 fatty acids can help you to lift your mood. Ensure that you have oily fish or seafood, twice a week so that you can fight depression. Salmon, trout, pilchards, mackerel and sardines are the commonly available oil fishes. If you are a vegetarian then you can eat nuts and seeds to boost your mood. Another thing that can create an impact on your mood is dehydration. If you are dehydrated then you will suffer from headache and ultimately, this will spoil your mood. Ensure that you consume minimum 6-8 glasses of water in a day.
Ensure that exercise is a part of your schedule. If you weren’t exercising before your pregnancy then this is the right time to start. If you have a swimming pool near your locality, then get yourself enrolled in aqua-natal classes. If you are not interested in swimming then you can try pregnancy yoga. It will improve your breathing and meditation techniques and hence, you will be relaxed. If you are not able to do anything then at least walk for 20 minutes a day. If you are a working women then take a 5-7 minutes break after every 30 minutes. This will help you to fight problems like backache.
5. Know The Birth Process
If this is your first baby then you may feel traumatized by thinking of the pain that you will have to undergo at the time of delivery. The pain will be half reduced if you are able to understand the dos, don’ts and what’s exactly going to happen. Talk to the doctor on how the delivery would happen. If yours is a planned caesarean then understand how it happens. Try to understand the birth process by watching some videos. This will make you mentally strong. Don’t talk to random people as they may scare you with their bad experiences, rather than the good ones.
6. Plan Your Commuting
If you are a working female then commuting would be a part of your daily life. You can talk to your employer and request them to change your shift timings. This will help you to avoid peak hour’s traffic. If you are spending long hours in travelling then you can also check with your employer for work from home option. While commuting, ensure that you are sitting. If you don’t find a seat for yourself then walk up to people and request them to give you their seat. Don’t feel embarrassed to do that. People would be more than willing to help you and there are also possibilities that they wouldn’t have noticed you standing.
