The meat which is one of the favorite for non-vegetarians should be avoided by pregnant women so as to avoid any infection due to the bacteria in meat. You should skip any kind of hot dogs or deli meats to avoid food borne listeria.The liver of the meat contains a huge amount of vitamin A which can cause birth defects so it should not be taken in larger quantities. If meat is a part of your diet and you cannot avoid then make sure you eat fresh, properly washed and cooked meat.
The dairy products, cheese and eggs are highly nutritious but make sure that they are pasteurized. The process of pasteurization kills food borne bacteria listeria that may lead to miscarriages or infection in the fetus. Hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt are some of the safest things to eat. Brie, feta, Camembert, blue cheese are unhealthy dietary options for the pregnant women so try not to eat them.
Don’t drink anything randomly during pregnancy as may be the water you are taking is not filtered or the caffeine component in the drink is high. Make sure you drink only filtered water to waterborne diseases. Caffeinated drinks should be avoided as it affects the heart rate of the baby and the growth.
Any kind of liquor should not be taken in first three months as it will lead to stillbirth, heart problems in the baby, inadequate mental growth of the fetus. Instead you can go for herbal teas and fresh juices .
Most of the women suffer from depression during their pregnancy due to multiple factors like hormonal changes,physical uneasiness, increased stress, worried about the sex of the baby etc.. These changes affect the eating and sleeping patterns which is itself a state of risk as rest and diet are two main necessities for the proper growth of the fetus. Some women start taking anti-depressant and pain killers to ease themselves which causes pulmonary hypertension in the newborns. Consult your gynecologist before taking any pill as it may have bad consequences on you and your baby.
Some beauty products contain accutane and retin A as one of there ingredient which shows patterns of defects in the fetus. Some of the medicines passes through your stream of blood which can cause miscarriage also. Use the beauty products that carry a label of mineral-only, noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic. These terms mean that the ingredients are oil-free and they won’t pass through your blood stream. As when any cosmetic product passes through the blood stream then it increases the chances of birth defects in the child.
Travelling can be done but it should be avoided in the first and last trimester. As in the first trimester the risk of miscarriage is more while flying or traveling by any mode.
If it is done in last trimester then you increase the chances of premature delivery. So if you have some travel plans than plan them in the second trimester. Keep yourself hydrated, eat properly and stretch your body to increase the blood circulation of the body while travelling.
Exercise is good for the pregnant women but it should be done under caution. A 30 minute exercise is important so that you will have a healthy pregnancy regime. You should not over do it. Avoid lifting anything heavy in weight as it can be dangerous for the baby. Take advice from your doctor before going on for a fitness and exercise regime as everybody has different levels of strength ,immunity and body comfort.Walking, swimming and stationary cycling can be done during your pregnancy but you should not putt extra pressure on your joints.
