Syndrome means a group of symptoms are occur in a particular disorder. The pregnancy is associated with different types of syndrome that comes from the first trimester and ends with the birth of the baby. But some syndromes acts as a threat to the mother and child so proper care and medication has to be given in some cases. Some of the syndromes in pregnancy are here:
Types of Syndrome During Pregnancy
This syndrome has initial symptoms of nausea, upper abdominal pain, high liver enzymes and low blood platelets. This syndrome is related to preeclampsia/eclampsia which consists of the symptoms like hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes and low platelet count in the body.
These symptoms make the word HELLP and the syndrome popularly known as HELLP syndrome. This is to avoid this syndrome that the doctor advises for the test of preeclampsia. The test is necessary as a physical examination will only reveal that liver is enlarged by touching the upper abdomen.
The presence of this syndrome increases your chances of delivery of the baby by cesarean or induction of labor. So this syndrome should be treated as early as possible. The action will be taken even if the baby is premature as if it is not treated on time then at the time of child birth it may become very serious case and can damage the liver of the mother. The effect of this syndrome on the baby depends on the gestation period and the duration and seriousness of the complications.
Couvade syndrome is a type of syndrome in which the man also experiences the same symptoms as the mother of the baby experience like weight gain, changes in hormones, morning sickness and changes in the pattern of sleep. In some of the cases the man also observes labor pains, postpartum depression and bleeding from the nose. As labor pain is also known by the name sympathy pain so this type of syndrome is called by the name sympathetic syndrome.
This is a situation of false pregnancy as it is not a real medical condition. This situation arises due to a psychometric condition or some of the biological causes that take place as change in the hormones takes place. Some other symptoms of this syndrome include stomach pain, back pain, acidity and gas, loss of appetite, constipation, cravings and morning sickness. Some men feel breast augmentation and lack of sleep also.
Carpet Tunnel Syndrome
The carpet tunnel is a canal in the body that is made due to the presence of wrist bones on three sides and a ligament that is on the wrist. The pressure in the narrow space between the fingers leads to compression of the median nerve in it and this median nerve gives a feeling to the thumb and the index finger to move the muscle that is present in the thumb base. This pressure leads to the occurrence of the symptoms of the carpet tunnel syndrome.
This syndrome is usually felt in working females who do data processing and programming on the computer. The symptoms of this syndrome are numbness, tingling and pain in the fingers of hand and wrist. The pain increases at night. Sometimes the pain moves up to the forearm and upper arm. As the women enter the second trimester, she feels this syndrome and all the symptoms goes away with the birth of the child.

The down syndrome is checked in the normal routine tests of the prenatal period. If the baby is diagnosed with down syndrome during the tests then you have to prepare yourself with some extra needs for the baby when he/she will enter into this world.
In the ultrasound of the first trimester the doctor takes measurement of the region on the back of the baby’s neck. If there is excess fluid in the tissues then doctor may say that some of the abnormalities are present. In case of blood tests, the different levels of the pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) and a hormone known as human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) are taken and if the levels are not normal then this indicates the problem of down syndrome.
