Clove oil also called eugenol by dentists is the best treatment for any kind tooth ache. Dentists often use eugenol as an anaesthetic and antiseptic while pulling out molars or filling cavities. Thus, clove oil is the best home remedy for pain in the gums. To apply it you need cotton balls or a cotton swab.
Add a few drops of the clove oil to it and then gently dab the aching gum with it. Hold the cotton swab in place over your gum for a few minutes. The clove oil will sting at first but gradually you will find all signs of pain disappearing. However if you have any sort of allergy to clove you should not try this out.
If you are allergic to clove oil then you might still want to try the above remedy by replacing the clove oil with oregano oil.
Use cotton balls or a cotton swab as described previously to apply it upon the affected area. Oregano oil like clove oil is extremely helpful in relieving aches in the gum.
Ice packs are the age old remedy to any sort of ache and there is a reason why they have not lost their popularity over all these years. The coldness of the ice tends to numb the sensitive area preventing us from feeling any pain.
You can hold ice packs or crushed ice wrapped in a towel upon your jaw. Keep using it in twenty minute intervals.
A good alternative to ice packs are refrigerated cucumbers. You can bite on slices of ice cold cucumbers.
The coldness serves the purpose of numbing your gum while the nutrients present in cucumber strengthen it.
Salt Water Rinse
Add two teaspoons of salt to a glass of water. Warm this solution till it’s lukewarm. Now take a large sip and swirl the solution in your mouth. Repeat this till your glass becomes empty. Make sure while rinsing that the solution reaches the affected area. Salt has great healing traits and combined with warm water it tends to work wonders.
However this is a good method to treat pain in your gums after the wisdom tooth has already arrived only. Carry out this procedure twice every day for as long as the pain stays.
