A number of reasons can be associated with body acne. However, the most common reason is ill hygiene and improper diet. Body acne can be difficult to diagnose on your own as most of them have varying appearances and can be confused with other skin conditions. If you suspect body acne, check out the kinds of outbreaks that can be categorised under acne.
Diagnosis Of Body Acne
Inflammatory And Non Inflammatory Acne
Body acne can surface as two types, namely inflammatory and non inflammatory body acne. In the non inflammatory variety, the acne turns into skin blemishes that change to form black heads and white heads that can be extremely unsightly on the skin. Inflammatory body acne looks inflamed, often forming nodules on the skin or cysts filled with pus.
Whiteheads are the result of skin infections that are caused when bacteria gets trapped in the pores and cause the skin to get infected and inflamed. Whiteheads can be big or very small that you cannot see them. They can be easily removed with exfoliating the skin regularly.
Blackheads are another form of acne formations on the skin when the skin is characterised by black spots, especially on areas which are exposed to pollutants and sun. They are formed when dust and grime gets trapped in the pores of the skin and clogs the pores. Blackheads too can be removed with skin exfoliation after a steaming session to open the pores.
Cysts And Nodules
These are large outbreaks on the skin that can even be very painful with a lot of inflammation. Cysts and nodules are difficult to remove easily as some of them can be very stubborn and can last for several weeks or even months. You might have to get them treated and removed medically in such cases.
Papules are body acne that has a raised surface and can look very inflamed and red. These kinds of acne outbreaks do not have a head and are caused when the follicle wall is infected. Papules may not look very threatening at first. But after a few days they get infected and become white in colour.
When papules are left untreated, the white blood cells in our body starts working against them and after a few days they turn into red and inflamed pores with a whitehead on the centre. They look like pimples, waiting to burst open and drain the pus and bacteria that has got trapped underneath.
All types of body acne require to be treated adequately to prevent spread through bursting and bacterial action. Simple solutions like keeping the body clean from sweat and grime through regular showers, using a loofah or a natural exfoliant like sugar scrub or with the use of turmeric paste on the skin can help prevent and treat acne outbreaks.
It is also important to make some changes in your diet to control body acne. Oily and fried food and junk food must be avoided as much as possible. Severe cases of body acne require medical attention where your doctor will suggest medications and ointments for treating them adequately.
