Vitamin E is known for its skin regenerative and restoring properties. Vitamin E will also encourage collagen production while the healing takes place. Vitamin E liquid too can be used for this purpose.

Over The Counter Chemical Peeling Kits

Chemical peels can be organic as well as chemical based. While the herbal variety is mild with citrus acid which is a natural exfoliating and lightening agent, the over the counter kits that are used for chemical peeling comes with glycolic acid or salicylic acid for removing the dead layers of skin on top that can cause the scar to appear worse than it actually is.

Chemical peeling is however best done at a skin care clinic, under the guidance of an experienced hand as inadequate usage of the procedure can result in skin burning and scarring that can be difficult to remove. If done at home, ensure that you follow the directions carefully and leave a gap of six weeks or more before you repeat the treatment.

Silicone moisturisers help in leaving the scar tissue well moisturised and preventing the dust and dirt from setting on the scar tissue, making it more raised. Silicone moisturisers can be applied in the morning and night. When you are working outside or sweating, you can apply the moisturiser after a shower to prevent accumulation of dirt and grime on the scar tissue.

Vitamins And Minerals

Taking vitamin and mineral supplements in adequate quantities will help in the healing process. Taking around 500 mg of vitamin C, 2000 mg of beta carotene and 15 mg if zinc every day during the healing process will help in the regeneration of skin and reduction of scar. This has to be continued for several weeks, as per the guidance of a doctor.

A combination of two or more of these treatment methods will sometimes give better results while treating piercing scars. All forms of scars are very stubborn and cannot be completely removed.
