For women who are suffering from menstrual cramps, anything that would offer solace would be heaven. Acupressure is an ancient Chinese method which is known to offer great relief from menstrual cramps and other problems if employed in the right method.

Acupressure employs the same principles of acupuncture and uses certain pressure points that are located along the meridians of your body to offer relief form pain and improve the flow of energy in the body.

Locate Mansion Cottage Point

Lie down on your back in a very comfortable position. Now you must identify the mansion cottage points stationed between the pelvic bones in the middle of the crease where leg joins the abdomen.

These points are about 1 ½ inch below the navel. Applying pressure on these points will relieve your menstrual cramps and abdominal pain as well.

Rushing Door Point

Now you can move about two fingers width below your mansion cottage points and apply pressure on these areas which are known as the rushing cottage points as per the principles of acupuncture. This too helps in relieving the menstrual cramps and discomforts naturally.

Sea of Energy Point

The next point to locate is the sea of energy point. The sea of energy point is located at the centre of the pelvic region, about 2 finger width down of your navel.

Pressing this area will help deal with abdominal and menstrual cramps and constipation that can again lead to increased menstrual cramps, post menstrual syndrome, problems with reproduction, irregular menstruation and abnormal vaginal discharge.

Gate Origin Point

Now go to the point which is four finger widths apart from your navel. Applying pressure on this point helps relieve menstrual cramps, vaginal discharge that is irregular, urinary incontinence, irregular periods and fertility problems.

Sacral Points

Sit comfortably with an upright spine. The sacral point is located at the back, at the bottom of your spine, just above the tail bone. Apply pressure for about two minutes on this point using both your palms.

You can do this by lying on both your palms placed one on top of the other and pressing on this area. This pressure helps in relaxing the uterus and stops the menstrual cramps within minutes.

Womb and Vital Point

First locate the sacrum which is the bony base of your spine. From this point, go two finger widths apart to both sides to locate the womb and vital points. These points are midway between the top part of your hip bone and the base of your buttocks. Pressure on these points will relieve menstrual cramps, pelvic tension etc.
