4 Hygiene Tips During Menstruation

Women are quite secretive about their periods and no one really cares or prefers to talk  about best hygiene practices during these days. This is one of the main reasons why women suffer from infections and other complications, especially when they are a bit casual about these days. Menstruation hygiene should never be ignored since it can lead to many serious health hazards. Women should ensure complete cleanliness and best hygiene during this time; its nothing to feel guilty or ashamed about, because its just a normal cycle of her body. Here are a few hygiene tips which every lady should follow.

Maintaining Hygiene During Menstruation:

Regular Changing Is Necessary

Once menstrual blood is out of the body, it tends to get contaminated with innate organisms of the body. This can happen even when she is not bleeding since the sanitary product ( if unchanged) is damp. It tends to have micro-organisms from the vagina along with sweat, which causes rashes and itching. If these micro-organisms stay long in the moist and warm place, they tend to multiply at an extremely fast rate. This causes vaginal infections, skin rashes and even urinary tract infection. Women should ideally change in every five hours, if sanitary pad is used. If tampons are used, they should be changed every 2 hours. Women need to customize their sanitary product usage as per their needs. For women who experience heavy flow, they will need to change more frequently while others can change in 5 hours time. Regular changing is absolutely necessary.

Wash Well

During your periods you should always keep your private parts clean. You need to  clean the area in a motion; ensure that you are cleaning from the vagina to the anus area and never do it opposite. If you are washing in the opposite direction, you will be inviting bacteria from the anus to move into the urethal opening and vagina. This will cause infections, skin rashes and many other problems.
