It is true that as you age, you start to worry less about skin problems. But looking young and age do not coincide. Having great skin at any age is a boon and combating problems like age spots, helps you achieve that. Basically age spots are defined as brownish spots or discolorations that are found on the body and even the face. It usually begins at the age of 40 but due to stress and other hazards, may start earlier too.
Often, the source of the problem is blamed on liver issues. However, in recent times it has been seen that age spots are in fact caused due to sun exposure, environmental pollutants and even lifestyle. So here are some natural ways to combat this issue-
Natural Cures For Age Spots
The gel or juice of the Aloe Vera juice plant is one of the best methods for getting rid of all kinds of spots and marks. So it is no surprise that works great with age spots too. Basically the age spots or their appearance is diminished by this gel.
Regular application lightens the tone of the skin, hiding these spots by replenishing skin layers and cells. You should apply this gel on the spots or even on the entire face at least twice a day. Leave it on for 45 minutes to an hour at least. You will be able to see a visible difference in less than a month and its effects last much longer.
Juice Of Lemon Or Orange
Orange and lemon juice contain natural vitamins and acids that not only fade the appearance of spots but also reduce the chances of recurrence. All that you have to do is take the juice of either and apply it generously on the face. This can be done using cotton or even with the hands. You should get visible results in a couple of months.
To this juice you can also add some sandalwood paste or even some gram flour to get glowing skin. As a rule of thumb, avoid going out with the juice on your face, even if it is just going to the window or something like that. The juice can also be consumed to help flush out toxins and help in better functioning of the liver.
Another natural remedy for getting rid of spots is also possible using castor oil. All that you have to do is apply the oil directly on the spots. This can be done twice a day to help fade the spots.
You can also add some lime juice and sugar to the oil to make a scrub. Apply and scrub all over the face and then let it dry. Wash off later.
Onion And Apple Cider Vinegar
The juice of an onion is another miracle worker when it comes to getting rid of age spots. You should grate the onion and then use a muslin cloth to strain the juices and get the juices. Avoid the mixer here because it tends to release chemicals that hamper this process. Then to this juice, add a similar amount of apple cider vinegar.
Then apply it all over the spots, including the body and let it dry. You should let this pack stay for at least 30 minutes. Apply this pack for at least 6 weeks and you will be able to see results. The spots actually fade out completely, but you have to exercise patience.
Drink Apple Cider
However, if you lack the patience to wait that long, then you can speed up the same by adding 3 spoons of apple cider vinegar to about 2 glasses of water, which can be warm. This should be consumed twice a day for a month.
It cleanses out toxins and acts as a natural detox agent. You will get clear skin, feel better and also attain higher energy levels. You can add some honey to the same if you want to make it sweeter or if the vinegar is too strong for you.
Honey And Lime
The juice of lime along with honey can be used all over the face to lighten skin tone and get a healthy glow. Just apply and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash off without using soap and see a visible difference in just a few weeks.
There are a lot of yoga exercises available too for helping combat the signs of aging. Asanas that focus on the face like simhasan or even sarvangana asan help to improve circulation, which combats the signs of aging and spots internally and thus prevents them from emerging in the first place.
