Pregnancy Birth Control Methods
One of the best ways of preventing an unwanted pregnancy is to use a condom. Condoms are rubber sheaths which the man uses on his penis just before vaginal intercourse. He ejaculates in the condom and thus the entry of the sperm in the woman’s uterus is prevented.
Condoms are one of the most popular methods for birth control because they not only prevent pregnancies but also give sound protection against sexually transmitted diseases.
The Oral Contraceptive Pill

Some pills are combination pills which contain both estrogen and progesterone while some pills are progesterone pills only. They work in two ways.
They prevent the release of the egg from the ovaries or make the cervical mucus so thick that the sperms cannot enter the uterus. One pill is taken each day starting from the 4th day of the cycle with the first day of your period being counted as the first day. Many women prefer to use birth control pills as condoms are said to reduce or minimize friction and pleasurable sensations.
The Hormonal Shot Or Injection
Many women find themselves forgetting or finding it difficult to be on the pill every day. The problem with the pill is that you cannot afford to miss even one single pill as it can increase your chances of getting pregnant.
In such cases it is best to go in for hormonal shots or injections. One of the popular shots is the depo provera shot or Injection which gives a woman protection against a pregnancy for at least 3 months after which she has to go in for a repeat shot.

Intra uterine devices are an oft preferred method for birth control especially after the birth of the first child. The device can be placed deep inside the vagina, closer to the cervix and left there for at least 5 years. This gives protection against pregnancy. The man or the woman need not worry about any other form of birth control.
A permanent form of birth control is the option of sterilization which can be performed on both the man and the woman. In a man the procedure is called as a vasectomy in which the tubes transporting the sperms called as the vas deferens are tied or cut off.
In women, a tubectomy is performed. The fallopian tubes which transport the egg are tied, cauterized or cut and thus sperm cannot enter the tubes to fertilize the egg.
