The vaginal yeast infection is a type of fungal or yeast infection. The fungus that leads to this infection is known by the name Candida albicans. This fungus is present in warm areas of the body. Almost 25-50 percent of women have a yeast infection in their vagina without showing any type of symptoms. But when these fungi go on multiplying then it leads to inflammation in the vagina, redness, bad odor due to discharge and irritation due to itchiness in the vagina.
Some types of bacteria live in the vagina all the time that leads to uncontrolled growth of Candida Albicans. This leads to the occurrence of many symptoms. The problem of yeast infection aggravates with the use of certain medicines, changes in the level of hormones and due to the existence of certain diseases. Around 75% of the females suffer from this problem in their life at some point of time.
A yeast infection is not a sexually transmitted disease but some men get some problem of itching and penile rash due to the sexual contact with the affected partner. Normally it is not a major disease and can be treated with certain medicines. But if the yeast infection is too much then it may lead to some serious complications. Signs & Symptoms of Yeast Infection
Burning
Burning means a heating sensation is felt in the affected area. This causes lots of discomfort to the sufferer. The amount of burning depends on the state of the yeast infection as if the infection is severe then burning will be huge causing lot of discomfort.
Soreness
Soreness means unpleasant sensory in the vaginal area that is due to the bacterial infection in the affected area. The soreness in yeast infection feels like little tears above the vagina.
Pain during or after Intercourse
The women feel a lot of pain during intercourse and after the intercourse. This is due to the yeast infection only as fungi are spread all over the vulva area.

Pain while Urinating
Some women feel pain while urinating also. Whenever the woman has to go to urinate , pain is felt in the vaginal area. This is due to the acidic reaction of urine with the bacteria present in the vulva.
Vaginal Discharge
The problem of vaginal discharge does not occur in every female suffering from a yeast infection but when the discharge occurs then it is odorless with whitish and thick texture. The discharge sometime is so much that the woman has to use a sanitary pad.
Itching in the Genital Area
The genital area observes intensive itching. The women find it difficult to wear underpants as when the underpants touch the genital area it causes a lot of irritation and discomfort in the vulva area.
In an estimate it is noticed that around 5 % of women suffer from the recurrent problem of yeast infection. A recurring yeast infection occurs when a woman faces more than three yeast infections in one year. These types of infection require more aggressive treatment as the recurring yeast infections may be a sign of some serious disease like diabetes, leukemia, or AIDS
