Boil is a kind of skin infection that may occur in different parts of your body. It is also known as skin abscess. A boil may start in form of a pimple and if not treated in time it takes the shape of an abscess. A boil is filled with puss in the centre; it has to be surgically drained out if it does not heal with localized medication. A boil may occur due to ingrown hair growth or due to the presence of some foreign object like an iron piece, a glass piece or a thorn in the body. You should treat boil as soon as it appears to prevent infection from spreading. Boils can be treated with various types of home remedies that are safe and do not cause any side effects.
Effective Home Remedies For Boils
Hang curd in muslin to drain out the water. Apply the curd on the affected part and cover with a bandage. Change the bandage twice a day to treat boils.
Crush 250 grams of Basil leaves to extract the juice. Add 250 grams coconut oil and boil it till the water is absorbed.Add 12 grams of paraffin wax to the mixture and mix well. Apply this ointment on boils regularly till it heals completely. You can store the ointment in a jar and use as needed.
Neem is a natural anti septic and anti bacterial. Make a paste with 10-12 Neem leaves.Add 1 tea spoon of pure ghee and heat it. Apply it on the boil and cover it with a bandage. This remedy fastens the healing process.
Soak red lentil for 2-3 hours. Grind to make a fine paste. Apply the paste on the boil and cover with a gauge. It will help to dry the puss and heal the wound.
To heal a painful boil, crush one small onion coarsely, add a pinch of turmeric powder, 1 tea spoon wheat flour and ½ tea spoon ghee and heat it for a few minutes.Apply this poultice on the boil. It will help to drain out the puss without surgery.
You should use garlic paste on the abscess in the primary stages to heal the boil. Use of garlic paste is not recommended once the boil is filled with puss.
Clay has natural healing properties. It is used to treat various ailments in Alternative Treatments like Naturopathy. Apply wet clay on the boil and leave it on till it dries.Change the clay every half an hour till the puss in drained out. Afterwards cover the wound with a wet clay gauge to help it heal faster.
Turmeric is an excellent natural healer. Make a paste with 1 table spoon turmeric powder and 1 table spoon mustard oil. Heat it and apply it on the abscess. Cover it with gauge. Change the gauge twice a day. Turmeric helps to ripen the boil and drain out the puss. Once the puss has been drained out, keep applying the turmeric paste to heal the wound internally.
