Factors For A High Risk Pregnancy Pregnancies are usually a joyful time that the expectant mother is supposed to enjoy. Your pregnancy can be risky if you are either too young or too old. If you are younger than the age of 17, your body is still not mature enough to handle the rigors of a pregnancy. On the other hand, if you are 35 years or above, your child can have problems like Down syndrome or other birth defects.

Recurrent Miscarriages

Women who have been unable to carry multiple pregnancies to term are at risk of being classified in this group. If you have had more than 3 spontaneous abortions, there could be a problem with your reproductive system that could put any future pregnancies at risk too.

Women who are carrying twins, triplets or even more babies, have to be looked after specially. This is due to the fact that such women have a higher chance of going into preterm labour or requiring an emergency C section.
