How To Deal With Nausea During Pregnancy

Nausea is the first sign of healthy pregnancy that occurs in the first trimester. Soon after the fertilized egg gets attached to the lining of the uterus, the body starts producing a hormone known as human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). Nausea begins when the production of HCG starts.

Nausea is also called by the name morning sickness. It is a good indication as it shows that you are getting a normal way for the increase in the hormones for the healthy pregnancy.

Absence of nausea in pregnancy is not a major concern as some females have the immunity to the effects of the hormones of pregnancy. But in case you have a severe nausea and vomiting then it can be a case of molar pregnancy when the placenta becomes a mass of cysts that will make you lose your body weight. The small and frequent meals are advised for the whole day instead of three-four large meals. The diet of carbohydrates and protein is recommended in the first trimester to have some relief from nausea. Keep some tasty snacks near you every time and have them in small quantities after every half an hour.

Avoid fatty, spicy and fried food as they can increase the acidity in your body that will create a problem. The foods which carry a smell that irritates you should not be taken. Always take liquid food between your meals but not much as it will give you a feeling of heaviness in your stomach. If you’ve been vomiting a lot then take liquid contain glucose, salt and potassium so that your electrolyte level does not go down.

Relax Your Body

While getting up in the morning do not jump right up, instead stay on the bed for some time and relax your body. There must be a gap between the time you wake up and get up from your bed.

You must go outside to get some fresh air and walk for at least 15 minutes as if you will stay inside in the morning then the chances of vomiting will increase. Nausea will become worse if you are tired so give your body rest and take naps if possible to relax your mind and body. Try to keep yourself stress free.

Watch For Non-Food Triggers

There are lots of non-food triggers like the smell of a perfume, talc, car ride and flashing lights that increases the nausea and instances of vomiting. So you should try to avoid these things. You can also try hypnosis which will help to fight with nausea. Look for the substitute of the products that triggers your nausea. For eg., Travelling by train will be comfortable than car if you are nauseated with a car ride.

Take your prenatal vitamins, folic acid, calcium supplements regularly. This will increase your inner strength and your nausea will not increase.
