Foods that contain sugar or high amount of fats are not good for your skin; in fact they are not good for your overall health. Hence do not consume excess amount of sugary, fatty and oily foods.
Drink Water
Drinking water to quench thirst is normal but you should drink plenty of water to keep light skin tone. Due to many reasons your body produces toxins that get accumulated into your liver, that flow into your blood stream and that get accumulated under your skin layer.
Toxins deposited beneath your skin layer spoils the beauty of your skin and your skin appears dark or stained. It is very difficult to get rid of such toxins through external means but water proves to be excellent remedy to flush out this type of toxins. Water not only eliminates toxins from your liver and bloodstream but it also cleans toxins present in/on your skin. Eventually your skin glows and looks fair when toxins are removed.
Creams & Lotions
To keep your skin tone light, you also need to apply suitable creams and lotions. This is required because your skin appears dark due to over production of melanin pigments. To control or reduce the production of melanin pigment you need to apply some skin lightening creams & lotions regularly. You should look for skin creams that contain hydroquinone as its major component.
Hydroquinone helps a lot in controlling the production of melanin pigment which eventually prevents your skin from getting dark. Do not expect any miracle overnight if you have started using such creams. You need to apply such creams regularly for a long period to get the desired result.
Use Sunscreen
As mentioned above regarding the harmful effects of UV rays and excess heat emitted from the Sun, you need to protect your skin from getting dark by protecting your skin using sunscreen. Choose a sunscreen that suits your skin and apply it regularly. If you are going out in Sun apply sunscreen at least half an hour before going out, for better result.
If your work demands you to remain in heat for a longer period you should wash your face after 2-3 hours and again apply sunscreen on your skin. This also means that you should carry sunscreen with you while going out in Sun. Do not depend upon any sunscreen available in the market. Your sunscreen should be labeled with SPF 30. In summer use of sunscreen is essential but this doesn’t mean that you should not use it in winter. If you want to keep light skin tone then you should also use sunscreen in winter.
Use Hats & Umbrellas
Hats and umbrellas prove to be very beneficial in protecting you from heat stroke and sunburns. Whenever you have to go out in Sun, either wear a hat of your choice or cover yourself with an umbrella. But don’t forget to apply sunscreen even if you use hats and umbrellas.

In order to keep light skin tone you also need to use chemical peel. There are various types of chemical peels; some are mild and some are deep. You have to apply your common sense to judge what kind of chemical peel you should use. In order to clean deep layers of your skin you need to apply deep chemical peel whereas to clean the surface of your skin you can apply mild chemical peel.
Do not worry if you experience a little burning sensation or if your skin swells after using deep chemical peel because it is the property of chemical peel to burn away the upper layers of your skin. This process allows inner layer to be exposed. You can use phenol as deep chemical peel. In order to reduce age spots or blemishes chemical peels such as phenol etc are also used.
If you go through bad experience after using deep chemical peel, use light chemical peel next time. Also it is recommended that you should let your dermatologist perform this for you. You should apply different chemical peel for your body and face.
