At-Home Care For An Infected Eye

1. Chamomile

How many times have this herb calmed and relaxed our nerves and offered us solace during times of stress? It’s time to use it for eye infection as well. Chamomile can be used for making a solution for washing the eyes. Take one cup of water and add a quarter teaspoon salt into it.


Now put 10 drops of chamomile too into it. Using a dropper, put this in the eyes and rotate your eyes so that it spreads everywhere. Do this 4 times a day to relieve the infection.

2. Warm Compress

When you have eye infections, the itching and sticky formations are imminent. To get some relief, a warm compress can be done. Take a bowl full of hot water. Using a soft cotton towel, soak in the water and wring dry lightly. Put this over the eye lids and relax your eyes for a few minutes.

Repeat a couple of times and you will feel much better. Wipe away the pus using the cloth after this treatment. Do not use the same cloth and water for treating the other eyes as infection can spread.

3. Turmeric Powder

The yellow root has many medicinal properties and can remove all kinds of bacterial and fungal infections of the body. Take distilled water and add 1/4th teaspoon of freshly ground turmeric to it.

This water can be used for cleansing your eyes. Apply the water into the eye using an eye dropper. Make sure that the turmeric is powdered well while putting in the eyes.

4. Green Tea

Green tea has many medicinal qualities and many people have been using its benefits to cure a host of diseases harboured in the body. Green tea can remove the infection in the eye and the inflammation associated with the infection too.

Take a green tea bag and dip in a cup of cold water. This tea bag can be pressed over the eye lids to provide relief and also to allow the medicinal properties to heal the infection as well. Green tea bags can be dipped in cold water and kept in the freezer for a few minutes too before application.
