Cholesterol is produced in the liver and the normal level of cholesterol varies between 150-200mg. per 100 ml. Any increase in cholesterol level above normal may indicate the risk of heart ailment. There are various factors that cause high cholesterol such as obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, alcohol consumption and eating high fat diet. Cholesterol is hereditary also; if you have a family history of coronary diseases then your cholesterol level may cross the normal limit if not taken care of.
Cholesterol Level Can Be Easily Maintained With Natural Remedies
Garlic
Garlic is a wonder herb. It has the capacity to cure many ailments. Garlic helps to prevent hardening of arteries and it keeps cholesterol level in check.
You can incorporate garlic in your daily diet by eating it raw or adding garlic paste to your vegetables or soup. Its beneficial properties do not diminish in any way you have it.
Isabhgol (Psyllum Husk)
Isabhgol is a herb which is available in form of husk. Isabhgol is helpful in cleansing the colon and the oil extracted from its seeds helps to maintain cholesterol level. One tea spoon of Isabhgol seed oil should be taken daily to keep your cholesterol level with in the normal range.
Coriander Seeds
Coriander seeds help to lower cholesterol level and it strengthens the digestive system. Make a decoction by boiling 1 tea spoon coriander seeds in one glass of water and drink it once every day.
You can chew ½ tea spoon lightly roasted coriander seeds or swallow them with half a glass of warm water for equal benefit. Coriander seeds are a great mouth freshener too.
Onion
Onion is a common herb that is available in every household. Its juice acts as a blood thinner and it prevents formation of blood clots in the body. Thus, onion is an effective natural remedy to keep cholesterol level under control.
Onion is also eaten raw in form of salad and it is commonly used in all types of cuisines.
Walnuts
Walnuts contain a high amount of Omega 3 fatty acids which helps to maintain normal cholesterol level. Walnuts are also a rich source of vitamin E, B and other minerals.
It helps to prevent heart disease and is an excellent brain tonic. You should eat at least 3- 4 walnuts every day as natural remedy for cholesterol.
Exercise
Along with the above mentioned foods as natural remedy for cholesterol regular exercise is also necessary to keep your cholesterol level under control.
You can take up any form of physical activity like brisk walking, jogging, swimming or cycling according to your age and preference.
Watch Your Diet
Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Reduce the intake of rich diet like deep fried foods, aerated drinks and eat a low sodium diet.
