Menopause is a clinical term that refers to the permanent termination of the main functions of the female ovaries in humans. The primary functions include the maturation and discharge of ova and the production and release of the hormones that signal the formation of the uterine inside layer and the consequent detaching of the uterine inside layer which is being referred as the menses. Menopause usually develops during their late forty’s or early fifty’s in women.
It indicates the conclusion of the productive stage of a woman’s life. What Are The Symptoms of Menopause?

Night Sweats and Hot Flashes
During menopause women usually suffers from hot flashes along with sweating, i.e. sudden onset feeling of heat accompanied by sweating. These sweats and hot flashes are experienced by almost 75% of women reaching menopause.
Women reaching menopause describe themselves to be emotional. This happens because of the sudden decline of progesterone and estrogen level in the body.
The women easily get tweed towards the strong emotional responses which are, anger, delight, irritability and sadness. This unpredictable behavior of women leads to irritability and discomfort.
Menopausal women’s sexual desire lessens with the period of time. It is said that the decrease in the libido is temporary, because of the hormonal changes. Difficult life situation and stress can also be the reason for decreased libido in women. If the decrease in libido continues for the longer periods and is affecting your relationship and personal life, then you should immediately consult your doctor for the possible treatment.
If you experience increasingly heavy periods and you find that you have to change your maxi pad or super tampon for more than once in an hour, then the bleeding is damaging your health. Serious heavy bleeding can be a sign of uterine cancer, fibroid tumors and uterine polyps. This situation needs to be evaluated by the medical professional, as it can lead to anemia also.
Menstrual irregularity is common in their 40s as women approach the transition to menopause. An insufficiency in hormonal balance or a decline in estrogen level is the major cause of it.
High Blood Pressure
Keep an eye on your blood pressure. Monitor it every month and if it reaches more than 140/80, then make an immediate appointment to get it evaluated. High blood pressure can put strain on your heart and cause heart disease and stroke.
Fatigue is described as a constant and relentless feeling of tiredness, weakness and low energy level. The body adjusts itself to the lower level of estrogen level and causes fatigue. If, the fatigue persists for more then 2 months , then an immediate consultation with a doctor is required to know the other causes of fatigue.
Hair loss can be abrupt during the menopausal stage due to the decrease in estrogen production.
Difficulty in remembering
During early menopausal stage, women may find it difficulty in remembering things or they may experience mental blocks or difficulty in concentrating. This can be a consequence of lack of sleep which can be also an effect of the unpredictable fluctuations of the levels of natural hormones.
Weight gain may also occur during the early menopausal stage because of the changes in progesterone and estrogen level in the body.
It is important to be informed that menopause is a naturally occurring stage in all women. But the time of its onset may vary due to different circumstances. The changes in hormone levels can greatly affect the woman’s well-being. But it is essential to understand that the degree of the effects could differ due to various conditions.
