Night sweats is a common symptom observed and may last for a few seconds to several minutes. In most cases, insomnia due to sudden changes in body temperature is inevitable.

Mood Swings

A sudden imbalance of estrogen will throw several metabolic processes out of gear. A series of hormonal changes in the body will make women feel apprehensive, irritated, emotional, sentimental and angry within a span of few minutes, making her go from a smile to a frown in a short period of time. This is a very important symptom of menopause in women.

Vaginal Dryness

A decrease in estrogen will lead to vaginal dryness, making it extremely difficult for the woman to have normal sexual intercourse. Pain during sex, itching around the region, vaginal infections or decreased libido are common problems faced during menopause.

Hair Loss

Estrogen plays a crucial role in strengthening the hair follicles. A drop in estrogen levels will automatically lead to weak follicles, in turn causing rapid hair loss.

Thinning of hair, weak hair strands and loss of hair in other parts of the body could be an important symptom of menopause. In most cases, the woman will also experience a sudden growth of facial hair, making the experience very traumatic.

Irregular Periods

An irregularity in the period’s cycle leading to missed periods, scanty bleeding or bleeding in between two periods is easily noticeable in most women nearing menopause.
